We are finding comfort in food during the current situation. With kids at home, I have to come up with things to keep them occupied. They have started to enjoy cooking and baking. This lockdown has definitely opened the gate for some new skills for them:).
Lavash crackers are simple sheet pan crackers made with very basic ingredients. I have made them using all purpose flour as well. But to make it more healthy, I chose to use whole wheat flour this time. These also store well so you can make a big batch and keep them handy. These crackers can be served with hummus, or any other dips.
These guilt free crackers can be made in a jiffy. About ten minutes to make the dough and another ten minutes to bake. Feel free to sprinkle some sesame seeds on top if you like, just before baking.
INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon nigella seeds
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon carom seeds
1 teaspoon dried fenugreek leaves
2 tablespoon olive oil
salt as needed
water as needed to knead the dough
Preheat oven at 375F. Mix all the ingredients together except one tablespoon olive oil. Use water little by little to form a tight dough. Knead for 2-3 minutes. Roll it as thin as possible and cut them into desired shapes - square, rectangle or long strips like I did . Place them on a greased baking sheet, use the remaining one tablespoon of olive oil and brush it on the top. Bake for 8 minutes, flip them and bake for another 2 minutes. Enjoy with any dip of your choice:)
